'Space Floss Circus and the Umpa Welcoming Ceremony' by Daniel Grant Newton

It's Friday!  Friday!!!  The day before Saturday and the day after Thursday.

Thanks must go out to R. Black for clarification on that.  (That's Rebecca Black's rap name I've decided, in case she wants to take her educational lyrics about the names of days of the week, change genre and team up with R'n'B legend R. Kelly.  Boom!  Instant hit and potential power couple.)

Anyway, hope your week has been fantastical, and you are ready for a magical weekend full of sunset drinks, late night partying and wizards with long green beards - that kind of magical.

I have swirled my tea leaves around to see your future, actually I am drinking coffee, so coffee beans... and the beans never lie...

And it says you WILL have an amazing weekend as a result of casting your enchanting and attractive eyes on the Space Floss Circus and the Umpa Welcoming Ceremony, my new fantastical dreamlike (surreal even) picture made for you.  It's like pictorial honey for a potentially sore throat weekend.

And as you can see in the picture, the Umpa welcome you.  They're the little people with big heads welcoming the girl with the magic lamp on her head and the girl with the mask and stripy socks, for those wondering.  The girl with the lamp and the girl with the mask found their way to this edge of space on the toy spaceship on the box.

But I'm pretty sure you knew that already.

Oh okay.  Yes, good question.  I'm glad you asked.  And I was getting to that.  That was the imaginary voice in my head if you heard it too.

Do you often hear other people's imaginary voices?  You should probably get someone to check that.  Someone professional with a degree on their wall and glasses they needed after straining their eyes staying up all night reading big text books with small writing.  One of those professionals.

Not a professional that get paid for performing athletic feats in competition, or for magical illusions and cheesy jokes in front of cheering crowds.

Or ones that tick that box on surveys but nobody is really sure what they are professional in doing.  Perhaps they are professional kale growers.  There is a market for that.

So if you heard the imaginary voice in my head, please see the other type of professional.

Unless of course you are psychic.  Then maybe you need to join a school for X-Men and X-Women.  Or be tutored by a crystal ball reading soothsayer.

But in case you didn't hear the voice in my head, it asked, "can we get a print of this intricate artwork?"  And the answer is 'yes'.  You can get one at DeviantArt by clicking here and having a portal to Awesome Dream Land on your wall.

Presuming you live in a castle, it would look something like this on your wall.

So, what was the point of this post.  Hmmm...  Well, I said it was Friday.  Check.  I read your coffee beans future.  Check.  And it was good!  Check.  I suggested you see a professional or Professor X or a crystal ball psychic if you heard the voices in my head.  Check.  And you saw my art piece and that it was available on the artist network known as DeviantArt.  Check.

Good then.  Would wish you a happy weekend, but no need.  The coffee has spoken and said it is so.  So see you next week, and put something freaky deaky like studio 54 on your wall for me, even if it isn't the art above.

Best wishes from Planet Crazy and the Ninja Monks of Shambhala.

Some cool posts coming your way, but in the meantime...

Hey there, long time no speak.  But I've got something very special to make up for it.

Actually, I've got some really, really special stuff on their way ... but I'm still working on those posts.  It is taking me much longer than I'd expected.

So, in the meantime, here is something cool, special and different to my usual to make up for it.  I have taken a couple of views off my balcony at home, and photoshopped them for your entertainment.

Your welcome.  :-) lol

P.S. I do not own the rights to these characters, and they are only being used for the sake of parody.

P.P.S. No superhero was hurt in the making of these photoshopped images.

Astro Boy photoshopped onto a sunrise.

Bat signal photoshopped onto city skyline.
Superman photoshopped onto exploding sunrise :-)

'Riding an Elephant through the Dreamscape' by Daniel Grant Newton

Hey friend,

Here is a picture I drew in Haiti (and mentioned in a previous blog post), but have now coloured in.

I have kept the dream feel by mixing semi-realistic with representational, using a vivid yet unusual palette, and creating a fuzzy, surreal, fun energy about it.

Last night I had a lucid dream which inspired me to go back to this piece and finish it.

I will be selling a limited number prints of this through a few select vendors, as well as potentially the DGN Productions website we are launching.  Making it available online is really up to the response from my online friends - YOU!

Daniel

P.S. Remember, if you like this art piece, and would like to receive more fantastical art and stories, put your email in the box at the top of the page.

New Portrait With Coffee + Paint - by Daniel Grant Newton

New Portrait With Coffee + Paint - by Daniel Grant Newton

Salut friend!

New portrait I made for one of my fans.  I used a mixture of coffee, and brown, white and silver paint.  Still getting used to painting with coffee.  It never seems to go where I want it to go because it is so runny.  :-/

But this turned out alright after I used paint to *cough* *cough* fix it.

I hope your week is going well.  Today is 'Hump Day' Wednesday.  As in, the middle of the week, and now it is down hill until the weekend.

Mind you, if you are lucky enough to love what you do, every day is an awesome day!

Want to see more artwork, as well as read and listen to great stories?  Then what are you waiting for?  Join the growing DGN Productions/The Last King of Shambhala family by putting your email in the subscribe section at the top of this page.

I shall post again soon.
Daniel :-)
