And in all honesty, just like with most things, getting stuck into creating something means you make the mistakes you need to make to learn from, and hence perfect your craft.
That said, it is a little embarrassing to share this with you. But I thought it could be good inspiration for any up and coming writer or artist.
As you will see, there is no consistency of characters, the story was not planned out before I started drawing, and therefore none of it makes sense. Of course, as you don't find out because the comic has been scrapped by me, these are all parts of memories that form a complete story only at the very end. Kind of like the Akashic Records Series.
To give you a brief overview of what the storyline was, here is a little synopsis:
In the future, due to overcrowding, the government decides to send parts of the population back into the past and create colonies in them. Due to the science now (in the future) proving that the mere act of going back in time creates an alternative universe and timeline, people from the future don't need to worry about their present being changed.
Now in the future a rebel group begin creating super soldier babies, that will grow up to oust the government, however the government have a super soldier (slash non-elemental energetic being), called 'The Ghost Dance', who "shuts down all the rebel group's labs". But, as all good stories go, one baby survived the incident and grows up thinking he is a 'mistake'... as that is what everyone is calling him from different groups. He then becomes a vigilantly who calls himself 'Mistake', who begins uncovering his past and the corruption of the government, and who is hunted by 'The Ghost Dance' and those in the know.
Meanwhile in the Wild West, a criminal nicknamed the Bandit and his sister Bruha (witch in Spanish), run from the law by getting past security and entering the future via an incoming wormhole, something not done before. This takes them to the future, where they befriend Mistake when he catches them for petty theft, and help him uncover his past and defeat 'The Ghost Dance' and the agency.
They also meet a great sage who explains to them that by calling themselves 'Mistake', 'Witch' and 'Bandit', they are creating themselves in that image - a self-fulfilling prophecy. He explains that the words you use and thoughts you think about yourself and your world, create the reality you live. This becomes their secret weapon against the agency, and changes their 'I AM'.
Fittingly, until just before I abandoned the project, I called the comic 'Mistake'. And it turned out to be a huge mistake. Thereby being a perfect example of the sage's words. Maybe I should create a comic called 'The Best Comic that was EVER created, and that also sold the most copies EVER, too... because of how awesome it is'. Just an idea.
But, this story, with further work, could be alright, I guess. And one I might further develop in the future (this timeline). Perhaps it will even see the light of day. But this version I am about to show you will never again get that privilege. After this, they will most likely be moved to my computer's bin.
That said, there are a number of these images, so I will break them over a few different posts.
Enjoy!
